How to use the Oracle download method to install the Oracle Management Agent:

1- Make sure to download the latest version of the Mass Agent Deployment from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html

2- Read the following document before installing the Agent target host using this method. (http://<OMShost>:<OMSport>/agent_download/agent_install_readme.html )

3- The Agent installation files should be staged in the OMS home directory.

4- Install the Oracle Management Service if it is not. 

5- Make sure that the agentDownload script was located at OMShome/sysman/agent_download/<version>/<platform>

6- Download the agentDownload script to the target host from the Management Service URL. (http://OMShost:4889/agent_download/<version>/<platform> or 

http://OMShost:4889/agent_download/)

7- The agentDownload script should be executed on the target host(s). This script can be customized for specific environments using a silent, scripted installation and it will copy the Agent files to the destination host(s) over the network using HTTP. It will use pull technology and it must be executed from the target host. 

8- Execute the agentDownload script on the target host. Make sure the directory is empty. 
/u01/oracle/product/agent $agentDownload.solaris -h

d - Do NOT initiate automatic target discovery
h - Usage (this message)
i - Inventory pointer location file
o - ORACLE_HOME
s - Installer stage directory
t - Do NOT start the Agent
x - Debug output
- make sure $AGENT_HOME is empty
- example: (on target machine after you down loaded to the /u04 directroy a different directory)
- $ ORACLE_HOME=$AGENT_HOME;export ORACLE_HOME
- $ cd /u04
- $ chmod 700 agentDownload.solaris

9- Notice that the jar executable file be in the PATH environment variable and the /usr/local/bin/wget or /usr/bin/wget file exits.
10- After successful installation, change the directory to the Agent Home directory and run the root.sh script as the root user.


Uploading Agent Installation Software for different platforms:

1- Download the "…cpio.gz" file from OTN.

2- Copy the downloaded file to the <OMShome>/sysman/agent_download/<version> directory.

3- Go to above directory.

4- Run gunzip ($ gunzip …cpio.gz).

5- Run cpio ($ cpio -idcmv < …cpio)

6- Edit the agentDownload file and modify (ex: OMShost=server.iselfschooling.com and httpPort=4889)
